Race for Life

Tue, 03/16/2010 - 20:45

My Race for life Paperwork arrived in the post today.

I am number 1782 and as I work for Tesco, the leading sponsor, I also get a nice pink T-shirt :-)

Today’s 4 mile run was very enjoyable.

I am not really built for speed but do enjoy the longer distance.

Although my time for my 4 mile run has gone from 45.53 to 43.21 so feeling rather pleased with myself :-)

Don’t forget you can sponsor me by clicking the link on my web page

An essential buy

Mon, 03/15/2010 - 23:50

If your a Lady jogger apart from your shoes the next most important bit of gear is….

A very good sports bra.

I knew I needed a new one but kept putting off buying one.

The last thing I want is sagging breasts

So finally at the weekend I decided I had to get one.

I was shocked at the price …£32 and would much rather have spent the money on a nice pink sexy girlie one :-)

But I know the importance of having a good jogging bra.

Mother’s day walk..

Sun, 03/14/2010 - 21:05

A treat today :-)

A longer walk than usual along the river from Cambridge to Ely.

Brilliant sunshine all way too :-)

As its Mother’s day Geoff then treated me to tea and scones at the lovely Peacock tea rooms.

Watch out Andrew and Matthew he will be down to collect the money soon :-)

We returned to Cambridge by train followed by the 2 mile walk back to Chesterton.

So 18 miles covered in total.

We finished the day off with a relaxing swim and steam followed by a much needed and enjoyed Indian meal.

Tomorrow I return home to collect my mother day treats from my boys, who both sent me lovely text messages today :-)

A weeks exercise

Sat, 03/13/2010 - 21:43

This has been a good week and I feel really great for all the exercise I have done.

It all started last Sunday with a 15 mile walk

Monday it was a half mile swim and then an hour and a half yoga class

Tuesday it was a 4 mile run

Wednesday another hour and a half yoga class

Thursday almost a 4 mile run

Friday day off

then today a half mile swim

As lady M would say, all kinds of exercise is good  for the body and mind and I certainly get plenty of all :-)

Heaven

Thu, 03/11/2010 - 19:53

Tonight for the first time since having my shower fitted I was able to enjoy a nice hot bath.

All thanks to a little gadget similar to this one

It certainly works and now I have plenty of hot water.

You don’t know what a luxury a bath is till you cannot have one !

An experiment

Mon, 03/08/2010 - 18:58

I have a wart on my finger :-(

Many years ago I used to have about 10 of them…. but I just woke up one day and they had gone :-)

This time a friend at work says try covering the wart with duct tape.

Been doing just that for 2 days now , something is happening to it but I am not sure what !

Will let you know if it disappears :-)

A great day for walking

Sun, 03/07/2010 - 21:33

Today we decided it was time to get back to our walking with the Cambridge Rambling club.

We certainly picked the best day for it weather wise.

17 other people also thought today was the perfect day for a walk too.

We set off from Haverhill Sports centre for a 15 mile circular walk.

It felt good to be out walking again especially as the sun shone on us all day :-)

Sarah the walk leader provided home made mince pies at coffee break too.

Then it was home to rip the kitchen out the house that Geoff is doing up ready to rent :-)

It still amazes me how many calories I burn when walking or running I really should be as thin as a stick :-)

Todays walk on google earth

Sun, 03/07/2010 - 19:11
Google Earth streams the world over wired and wireless networks enabling users to virtually go anywhere on the planet and see places in photographic detail.  This is not like any map you have ever seen.  This is a 3D model of the real world, based on real satellite images combined with maps, guides to restaurants, hotels, entertainment, businesses and more.  You can zoom from space to street level instantly and then pan or jump from place to place, city to city, even country to country. Get Google Earth.  Put the world in perspective. (http://earth.google.com)
