An experiment

Mon, 03/08/2010 - 18:58

I have a wart on my finger :-(

Many years ago I used to have about 10 of them…. but I just woke up one day and they had gone :-)

This time a friend at work says try covering the wart with duct tape.

Been doing just that for 2 days now , something is happening to it but I am not sure what !

Will let you know if it disappears :-)

A great day for walking

Sun, 03/07/2010 - 21:33

Today we decided it was time to get back to our walking with the Cambridge Rambling club.

We certainly picked the best day for it weather wise.

17 other people also thought today was the perfect day for a walk too.

We set off from Haverhill Sports centre for a 15 mile circular walk.

It felt good to be out walking again especially as the sun shone on us all day :-)

Sarah the walk leader provided home made mince pies at coffee break too.

Then it was home to rip the kitchen out the house that Geoff is doing up ready to rent :-)

It still amazes me how many calories I burn when walking or running I really should be as thin as a stick :-)

Todays walk on google earth

Sun, 03/07/2010 - 19:11
Google Earth streams the world over wired and wireless networks enabling users to virtually go anywhere on the planet and see places in photographic detail.  This is not like any map you have ever seen.  This is a 3D model of the real world, based on real satellite images combined with maps, guides to restaurants, hotels, entertainment, businesses and more.  You can zoom from space to street level instantly and then pan or jump from place to place, city to city, even country to country. Get Google Earth.  Put the world in perspective. (http://earth.google.com)

A Running Wednesday

Wed, 03/03/2010 - 15:32

As I don’t expect there to be any walking Wednesdays for a while, maybe months.

I have decided Wednesdays will become my running day.

Got off to a good start today with a 6 mile run and we shall see if I can build it up to 10 miles.

I did get a few surprises on my run today.

My track was completely flooded in more than one place and I don’t mean by just an inch or two of water :-(

Most sensible people would have turned back but not me.

So I ran most of the way with very wet feet :-(

Then I came across a herd of deer in the field next to me, but once they heard me puffing along they soon ran off.

It was a lovely sight though to see their white tails disappearing into the distance.

Also on a patch of road side I found at least 300 lovely snowdrops :-)

I shall enjoy my stretch at yoga tonight that’s for sure.

My running stats from my Garmin Forerunner can be seen below….. notice how many calories I burnt :-)

Back to normal

Mon, 03/01/2010 - 23:47

After a very hectic week , helping Geoff move and settle into his new house.

We even managed a house warming party on Saturday.

All his new neighbours came which was wonderful and a great way to get to know them all.

It was good to be able to help Geoff move and I just know that he is going to be very very happy in his new house  :-)

I should be back to my normal routine this week.

It started today with my usual swim and yoga class :-)

Tomorrow I shall try to catch up with all my blog reading.

An unusual weekend

Tue, 02/23/2010 - 21:10

No walking or swimming this weekend.

We had more important jobs like clearing Glisson Road.

Many trips were made to the tip and Charity shops.

Then the auction men came and took most of the antiques away.

Leaving the house feeling very empty.

The weekend was not all work though as Geoff’s next door neighbors had us round for a farewell dinner, which was most enjoyable.

Not many people have the same neighbors for 26 years :-)

Sunday night we had friends round for dinner and used the sauna for the last time, it shall be greatly missed :-(

I have only known the house for around 3 years but it holds many happy and special memories for me, it also feels like home.

So its nice that I shall be back in Cambridge on Thursday to help with the big move !!
