No Clue has written [can't find it anywhere in the forum] that it's not nice to come in as a new member and see who voted for or against you.
Answer
No Clue, we have, until now, a system of "three objections" whereby the steering committee members write to Contact Admins, which then goes only to admins for discussion. Now if you yourself have seen the voting, then clearly some steering committee opinions have escaped the site system, something has gone wrong and made it into open discussion on the forum or elsewhere. Can't think why, as all steering committee know only to discuss new members by writing to Contact Admins or admins@bloghounds.org.
It is very much necessary that it is NOT done by a poll as the depth of feeling and why we feel so is also discussed - I'm sure you would not like to have been anonymously objected to without knowing why. When we need to not accept an application, we then write to the blogger concerned, explaining the reason for the objection.
This came out of experience of fora and their pitfalls. The experience at Blogpower strongly supports this system.
We're now at the stage where the membership is past 20 and that was always going to be the moment it was opened up to the membership as a whole as to who will be the admins and who will be new members. This has not, as yet, been explained - too many other things currently on the plate in RL. It is also the moment when the voting system is discussed.
We mustn't forget that the whole thing is brand new and the systems do take some time to get into place. There has been considerable discussion by the steering committee to this point and certain things were strongly felt should and should not be part of Bloghounds.
I'm going to put it to the steering committee today that perhaps it's time we now went to Stage 2 - member discussion of all matters.
I notice you've also applied to Blogpower for membership plus we have many members in both. That's not a problem for Bloghounds as every blogger is a free agent but it does raise the question of BP knowing our internal workings and we knowing theirs. In the main that again is not a problem but there might be some matters ... well, let's say one of the things we wish to avoid at all costs in Bloghounds is acrimony.
Yours, James
